The Believers

There are a lot of believer’s out there in the hunting world.  If there is one thing that many hold true it is their no-scent clothing.  Who can blame them? The clothing is charcoal activated to fight against body odor before it even becomes a problem.  If you believe that your clothes can actively help your chances of a better hunt then the choice is clear.  There is a reason why there is an endless assortment of hunting clothing available with this feature, people buy it.  And the more people buy it, the more believers that are made.  This is exactly what these companies are banking on and it works.  The reality is that there isn’t a need for these no-scent clothes.  What it does is give hunters the impression that they can cut corners when it comes to hunting deer.  They may get more lax in their habits and prevention practices while having the opposite intended effect on the hunt.  If hunters want to keep a deer from smelling them out then they need to be proactive in their prevention practices and not relying on their clothes to do all the work for them.  If they really want to beat the smell, the solution is prevention.  This includes keeping your hunting clothes from getting contaminated by foreign smells like gasoline in the truck and dog hair from the house.  Wash all the hunting clothes in laundry soap that eliminates odors and then immediately put the clothes into tubs with closable lids to keep them protected.  The only time they should be opened back up is when you are ready to put them on before the hunt.  So don’t rely on no-scent clothing alone.  It may have its purposes but by itself it is not enough to keep you scent free.
